Last weekend I was pleased to see my social media streams full of people asking #whomademyclothes and supporting Fashion Revolution Week.
Amongst the label selfies, I spotted a few of these beautiful bags and I couldn’t wait to share them. I always love seeing projects that combine fashionable design and social responsibility and this scheme we undertook with charity FARA is exactly that.
TOTES FOR EVERYONE is a range of hand crafted bags, made from both vintage and contemporary fabrics donated to the FARA charity shops.
The bags have been made by women serving in a London prison at the Fashion Training and Manufacture Unit, which was set up by LCF and the Ministry of Justice, to provide skills and employment for serving and recently released offenders.
The sale of the bags will raise funds for FARA’s outreach scheme to help disadvantaged young women develop parenting and life skills.
I am a big believer in education being a vital part of the rehabilitation process and keeping people out of prison. Social enterprises such as ours give individuals a chance to become independent and contribute to society in a more positive way.
A limited edition of 500 are available to buy in selected FARA Shops and online.
